90 Day Challenge :  Week 4 – Wilderness and Dependence

One Chapel family,

As we move into Week 4, the story slows down and stretches out. God’s people enter the wilderness — the space between promise and fulfillment.

This week’s reading:
2 Samuel 12 – 1 Chronicles 9

The wilderness isn’t a sign that something has gone wrong. It’s often where formation happens. Israel is learning to depend on daily provision instead of long-term security, trust instead of control, presence instead of certainty.

In the ancient world, wilderness spaces represented vulnerability and danger. And yet throughout Scripture, they become places of encounter. God meets His people not once they arrive, but while they are still wandering.

As you read this week, you’ll notice tension — gratitude mixed with complaint, faith mixed with fear. God does not abandon them in that tension. He remains patient, present, and near.

If this part of the story feels familiar, you’re not alone. Many of us live in seasons that feel unfinished or unclear. The wilderness reminds us that God does some of His deepest work before we ever reach the destination.

Sometimes the most faithful thing we can do is simply keep walking.

A simple invitation:
If something in your reading captures you this week — a verse, a phrase, or a moment — consider sharing it on social media or with your group. You never know how your reflection might encourage someone else who’s walking through their own wilderness.

With you in the journey,
