90 Day Challenge : Week 5 – Leadership, Power, and Expectation.
One Chapel family,
As we move into Week 5, the story turns toward leadership, power, and expectation.
This week’s reading:
1 Chronicles 10 – Nehemiah 13
Israel wants a king — someone visible, strong, and dependable. At first, hope rises. Then familiar patterns begin to surface.
In the ancient world, kings represented stability and security. They were meant to protect the people and embody strength. But Scripture tells a more honest story. Even the best leaders carry limits, blind spots, and the pull toward self-preservation.
As you read this week, notice how often hope is placed in human leadership — and how often it collapses. These stories aren’t meant to make us cynical; they’re meant to re-center our trust. God allows human leadership to fall short so His people don’t confuse leadership with salvation.
The cracks you see are intentional.
They create longing for something better.
A simple invitation:
Pay attention to your reactions as you read. What frustrates you? What disappoints you? What still gives you hope? Those responses often reveal where we’re placing our trust — and where God may be inviting us to shift it.
If you’re comfortable, consider sharing one of those reflections with your group or posting it on social media. Your honesty might encourage someone else who’s wrestling with the same questions.
With you in the journey,
One Chapel Leadership
