90 Day Challenge – Week 6: Wisdom, Worship, and the Cry of the Heart
One Chapel family,
As we move into Week 6, the story shifts inward. After generations of leadership, rebuilding, success, and failure, Scripture invites us to listen — not just to events, but to the human heart.
This Week’s Reading
Nehemiah 13 – Psalm 89
Here the Bible slows down. History gives way to prayer, poetry, and reflection. We hear joy and sorrow, confidence and doubt, praise and protest living side by side.
A Cultural Insight
In the ancient world, the Psalms were not private devotionals. They were sung in community. They gave language to emotions people didn’t always know how to express — grief, gratitude, anger, fear, and hope.
Rather than hiding emotion, Scripture preserves it. Faith was never meant to silence honest feeling; it was meant to bring it into the presence of God.
As You Read
Notice how freely the writers speak to God. Nothing is edited. Nothing is polished. Worship here is not about having the right words — it’s about bringing your real ones.
Some psalms celebrate God’s faithfulness. Others question it. Yet all of them remain rooted in relationship. Even doubt becomes an act of trust when it’s spoken toward God instead of away from Him.
A Simple Invitation
As you read this week, pay attention to the emotions that rise in you. Which psalms feel familiar? Which feel uncomfortable? You may find language for prayers you didn’t know how to pray.
If you’re willing, share a line, a phrase, or even a feeling that resonated — with your group or on social media. Honest worship often gives others permission to be honest too.
Grateful to be listening together,
