90 Day Challenge – Week 7: Prophets, Warning, and Return

One Chapel family,

As we move into Week 7, the tone of Scripture shifts. The prophets step forward — not to predict the future, but to confront the present.

This Week’s Reading

Psalm 89 – Isaiah 13

These passages carry intensity because they are spoken to people who know God but have slowly drifted from Him. The prophetic voice interrupts routine faith and calls people back to what matters most.

A Cultural Insight

In the ancient world, prophets were covenant messengers. Their role was not primarily to tell people what would happen someday, but to remind them who they had already promised to be.

The prophets spoke into real social and spiritual conditions — injustice, hypocrisy, empty worship, and divided loyalty. Their words were uncomfortable because silence would have been unloving.

As You Read

Notice how often God’s concern is not religious activity, but the condition of the heart. Worship continues, sacrifices are offered, prayers are spoken — yet God calls His people back to justice, humility, and faithfulness.

The prophets speak hard truth not because God is angry, but because He refuses to give up on His people. Warning, in Scripture, is always an invitation to return.

A Simple Invitation

As you read this week, pay attention to what stirs resistance in you — not guilt, but awareness. Ask yourself where faith may have become routine or disconnected from everyday life.

If something challenges you, consider talking it through with your group or sharing a reflection online. Sometimes naming what unsettles us becomes the first step toward renewal.

Grateful to be listening for God’s voice together,
