90 Day Challenge – Week 8: Exile, Loss, and Hope

One Chapel family,

As we move into Week 8, the story enters one of its most painful chapters — exile.

This Week’s Reading

Isaiah 14 – Jeremiah 33

God’s people lose what once defined them: land, temple, stability, and identity. What remains is grief, confusion, and the unsettling question of whether God is still near.

A Cultural Insight

Exile was more than displacement. It was an identity crisis. Israel had to ask hard questions:
Who are we without a home?
How do we worship without a temple?
Is God still with us?

Rather than abandoning His people, God meets them in loss. Through the prophets, He speaks words of comfort, promise, and future restoration — even while circumstances remain unresolved.

As You Read

Notice how hope changes shape in exile. It becomes quieter and more resilient. God does not promise quick fixes, but He does promise presence.

Some of Scripture’s most powerful words of hope are spoken in the darkest moments — promises of new hearts, restoration, and renewal when everything appears lost.

Exile teaches us that loss does not mean abandonment.

A Simple Invitation

If this week’s reading connects with places of grief, waiting, or uncertainty in your own life, don’t rush past it. God often does His deepest work when familiar supports are stripped away.

If you feel comfortable, share a thought or reflection with your group or online — not as an answer, but as a reminder that hope can still take root even in hard seasons.

Grateful to be walking through the waiting together,
